Tips From Jay
This Months Tip
Recently I have been asked, how do you cope with getting into a roping "slump". The truth is, it is not easy. Confidence is a huge part of roping, and if you split the horns once, or slip a leg, it hurts your confidnece. All of the sudden, the next time you ride in the box, you are dwelling on the previous run, and are more likely to get the same results. Now because of that one run hurting your confidence, you find yourself in this slump. But how do you get out of it? Just like any sport, you have to go back to the basics. When basketball players are missing three point shots, they step in closer, slow down, and do their repitition one step at a time. The same is with roping. When you find yourself in a slump, practice, practice, practice. Start with the basics, are you in a good position, where is your swing, are you deliviering correctly. After going through these steps, you will regain confidence and find yourself at the pay window once again. Thank you for your questions.
Until next time, Jay
